Empire State Building Observatory Review
One of the world’s most well-known and famous buildings, the Empire State Building observatory provides wonderful views around Manhattan (and beyond on a clear day). Depending on your budget, you can either visit the 86th floor or for additional dollars go even higher to floor 102. This review is from the 86th floor which might be considered high enough by some.
You begin in the marble clad lobby, which is an impressive Art Deco design. Depending on how busy it is, you may spend some time in queues so it’s a good idea to research the quietest times to go.
When you eventually get to the elevator that takes you to the top, there is information about the history of the building (which you can also choose to take audio tour headsets purchased on the ground), then the main event – a 360 degree outdoor deck that can be walked around easily. As you leave there is the obligatory gift shop.
This is an experience that should not be missed when in the Big Apple. It is open until 2am.
